Lilitu walked - no, sauntered- down the dirt path, taking long strides but moving smoothly enough that not a speck of dirt was churned by her black leather boots. She wore a flirtacious mask, winking at any boy cute enough to register on her radar. Beneath this, a turmoil of emotions tumbled inside her.
Her parents would regret kicking her out of their house. Her neighbours would regret not taking her in. And her friends? Lilitu was not one for friends.
No. She planned on becoming a pokemon trainer, the most powerful the region had ever seen. She never wanted to rely on anyone but her own forces. You couldn't count on others to support you; they would just betray you in the end. Captured pokemon didn't have much of a choice. Love, hate. You were their master. It was their job to serve you.
Lilitu approached the building where she hoped to obtain her first pokemon. She almost added companion, but corrected herself. They were not companions.
She reached for the handle, the metal cool despite the sunshine.

An incessant yapping could be heard on the other side of the door just as Lilitu's hand touched the handle, with more yapping echoing the first. Different pitches made it possible to identify a possible 4 different pokemon behind the door. Above the sound of the pokemon, a voice could be heard, telling them all to calm down and that he'll open the door in just a moment.
Without warning, the door opened, and two Poochyena, Growlithe and finally a Houndour bolted from the door, an older man dressed in white on the other end of the leash attached to each of the god like pokemon. Not caring if he hit her or not, one of the Poochyena bolted straight past Lilitu, knocking into her.
Seeing Lilitu, the professor pulled the pokemon back, which resulted in him falling face first onto the ground.
"Kyra, would you mind?" He asked the Houndour, who was now standing calmly beside him, watching Lilitu.
Nodding, the Houndour growled at the other three pokemon, all of which turned around and looked at her.
The Professor nodded his thanks and stood up, brushing off his coat.
"I'm sorry about all this rabble, I completely forgot you were coming today." He said to Lilitu. To the pokemon he said "Back inside you lot, we'll go out once I've seen to this new trainer."
Instantly a personality change occured within the pokemon, the all leaped around Lilitu, the Growlithe leaning up on her and licking her. Chuckling the Professor ushered them all inside and motioned for Lilitu to follow him to the lab.
"Now, I am Professor Pine, those four are more trouble then they're worth." A growl from one of the dog like pokemon cause the Professor to turn and look at them. "With the exception of Kyra of course. And you are..." His voice drifted off, forgetting the name of the trainer before him.

((If the houndour's available, I'd like her. ^^))
"Lilitu," Lilitu replied, following Professor Pine and brushing the dirt (and dog drool) off of her clothes. She looked at him and chose her words carefully - it would never do to offend her superiors. It took a lot of effort to keep any sarcasm out of her voice and to try and act respectful. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Professor Pine. I'm here for a pokemon... please."
She eyed the canine pokemon before her. She particularly liked the houndour; she recalled her knowledge of that pokemon. It was both fire and dark - the best of both worlds. Dog pokemon were known for their fierce loyalty to their trainers. She slowly extended a hand towards Kyra for her to sniff, smiling but not showing her teeth.

Professor Pine blinked once, then twice before shaking his head. "That's right, Lilitu." he exclaimed, as if he'd known it all along.
He looked at Lilitu, as if seeing her for the first time, murmuring random words of gibberish. After falling silent for a few moments, he spun on his heel and entered a room just off to the side.
While he was gone, Kyra eyed Lilitu's hand cautiously, sniffing it briefly before turning and curling up on a small cushion under a desk, which was clearly hers alone.
Professor Pine chose that moment to return, three pokeballs in his arms.
"I'm not sure why, but I'm thinking one of these three might be to your liking. If not, please let me know and I'll try again. I do love trying to pick the right pokemon for the trainers." He said, laying them on a small round desk.
"Poochyena, Ghastly and Larvitar" He told her, pointing to each pokeball.
(I think Houndour are a little strong for a starter pokemon. Jesse mentioned a while ago that starters are supposed to be 3 evolution pokemon. (but since Poochyena aren't uber strong I thought I'd throw him in too.))

((I was on Bulbapedia and going "Wow! Houndours are macho))
Lilitu's hand hovered for a few seconds over Gastly's pokeball, then eventually settled on Larvitar's. "I'll take this one," she said, thinking of the strong Tyrannitar it would become. After all, Gastley was known for playing tricks on its trainer. Perhaps later, when she had more experience, she would capture a sinister ghost-type. The last thing she needed right now was to have to watch her back against her own pokemon!
Her hands clasped around the pokeball, and she let it sit in the palm of her hand. "Yes," she repeated. "I'll take this one."
