Reika walked through the doors of the Normal type gym, while looking around to try and find Xavier. "Oi, Xavier, come on out, I'm asking for a battle here!" She called into the gym, waiting impatiently.
Behind here was Jackie and Shimmer, who were having a conversation between the two of them. "*So,*" Jackie started, "*The Pokemon that dude uses are Pidgeotto, Teddiursa, Kecleon and Skitty, the first round will probably start with me verses the bird.*" Jackie explained. Shimmer just rolled his eyes as Jackie continued to aimlessly rant.

Without much warning, the blonde-haired boy stepped through a double door on the far-side of the Gym. "Well, hello. I've been expecting someone to show up. I haven't seen any challengers for a couple days now. I've been getting ever so lonely." He smirked, approaching Reika still. "So, are you ready for your first Gym battle here in the Nahra Region?"

"Course I am." Reika said, rather arrogantly. "I've been training up my Pokemon so they could be prepared for this occasion." She smirked and flipped her blonde bangs out of her eyes; which was one of her many habbits.

"Alright," he began, "choose your first Pokémon, then. I'll at least let you have that honour, since I'm going to cream you, that is." The arrogance in his voice was far beyond that of Reika's. "Most importantly? Have fun." He smirked and placed a hand on his belt, as if pondering which Pokémon to use, even before Reika had.

Reika threw a pokeball up in the air, and out came Cherry. "So Cherry.. Think you could start off the first gym match of ours?" Reika asked her butterfly Pokemon. "*Well, doi. What do you think?*" The bug and flying type replied egotisticaly, rolling her eyes in the process. "*Okay then...*" Shimmer mumbled behind his owner's and allie's backs, thinking that Xavier would send out Pidgeotto.

"Ah, a Bug-type." Xavier stood firm, grasping one of the Pokéballs on his belt. "Well then, what better way to squash a bug than by using a lizard?" With a smirk, he tossed the 'Ball into the air, releasing his Kecleon. "You will do grand, I know you can." His trainer nodded assuringly, stepping onto his side of the field. "Are you ready to lose, Reika?"

"Hm, the word 'lose' is not in my vocabulary, but 'win' and 'victory' are." Reika replied smartly, while walking into place with Cherry infront of her. "So, care to make the first move?" She asked, a grin forming on her face.

Xavier raised an eyebrow, having had a preteen use such a word game. "Arrogant, are we? It'll just make victory all the sweeter." With a smirk, he placed his Kecleon's Pokéball back in its place. "And me? Make the first move? Oh, Heaven's no. I'd think it better if you had the honors of doing so. Alright? Alright." He answered himself, waiting for Reika to actually do something.

Reika rolled her eyes. "My arrogance does not affect my battling skills, don't underestimate me." She growled, before looking toward her battle partner. "Alright, then. Cherry, try to paralyze Kecleon with Stun Spore!" Cherry nodded and flew above the gecko-and-chameleon-like Pokemon, sending yellow and gold spores down upon it.

"Among other reasons." He ended the word game then and there, which resulted in his quickly changing into his battle phase. "Alright, Kecleon, be sure to dodge all of those spores and used a Lick when they are clear!" With a nod, the creature jumped to the side, narrowly avoiding the attack, then followed through with one of its own.
Kecleon: 100%
Cherry: 100%

Cherry dodged the attack barely, her left intenni soaked in slober from the Lick attack. "Cherry, absorb!" Reika called to the butterfly. Cherry flew behind Keckleon and started to use her absorb attack.

After being affected by the Absorb, Cherry gained a fair amount of health. Even so, Kecleon knew that it had to win, so it pushed on. "Now, use a Night Slash!" Without hesitation, the Pokémon darted forward, swinging down its claws with great force.
Kecleon: 89%
Cherry: 96%

Cherry was scratched with the attack, soaring backwards. She managed to get her wings flaping as to not hit the wall that was a few feet behind her. "Good job Cherry! Now use a Gust attack!" Thinking that because of Kecleon's Colour Change ability, Reika would get a super efective hit, if all went well.
OOC: Abilitys do count... Right? =3

Kecleon's own ability now turned against it. Absorb, being a Grass-type move, gave him attributes of Grass Pokémon, which are incredibly weak against Flying-type attacks. Thus, a great deal of damage was taken from the simple attack. Even so, Kecleon continued by using Lick on Cherry.
Kecleon: 75%
Cherry: 76%
