Sam was panting heavily when she emerged from the Peilmac forest onto Route 13. She stopped and climbed off her bike. While she put the kickstand down, her new Teddiursa, Teddy, clambered off her shoulders and explored a bit. He found the paved road of Route 13 interesting. Sam figured he'd never seen a city or road before. "Hey, Teddy, we really need to get to Astra City so we can get Ember, Ame, and Sparky to the Pokemon Center. They don't look too good."
Teddy cocked his head when Sam mentioned the other Pokemon's names. Then, she remembered that he'd never met them because she hadn't had to battle him. She walked over and picked him, putting him back on her shoulders. She grabbed her bike, and, as they began walked, Sam explained how she had caught her first two Pokemon, Ame and Sparky, after she recieved Ember at Professor Pine's lab.

With the use of a single, bright white string, a Spinarak lowered itself from a tree branch just ahead of Sam and Teddy. Afraid of them, it turned in just the right way to use it's abiltiy Scary Face, hoping to scare them off. "Spin! Spinarak!"

Sam jumped back at the sudden Spinarak. As she did, Teddy slipped off and landed on the mossy ground with soft thud. "Ursa!" he yelped as he hit the ground. Sam turned around and picked him up gently. She grabbed her bike and ran past the Spinarak. "Darn Spider Type..." she whispered under her breath. Then, she slipped Teddy in her backpack, hopped on her bike, and kept riding down Route 13.

As she and Teddy rode on, Sam noticed an Eevee in the bushes. It looked hurt. She stopped her bike and hopped off. She set her backpack next to the bike, which Teddy stuck his head out of. Sam slowly approached the Eevee. Suddenly, she noticed it had a collar on. 'It must belong to someone,' she thought. As she got closer, she saw that its front left paw had a thorn in it, and its face had a long scratch just above its right eye. Battle. It was the only thing Sam could think of. She picked up the seeminly unconscious Eevee to get a better look at its wounds. She pulled the thorn out pretty easily.
But when she did, the small Eevee twitched a little and opened its eyes. Apparently too weak, it did not struggle against the stranger while Sam carried it back to the bike. From her bag, she pulled out an old white t-shirt. She ripped a piece from the t-shirt and wrapped it around the Eevee's head, covering the scratch above its right eye. Then, she put a blanket in the basket on her bike and set the Eevee in it. She put her bag back on and got on her bike. Then, she continued to Astra City. 'The owner might be there.' The only thing she heard the whole way was a quiet, "Ee..."

That evening, Sam and Teddy crawled into her sleeping bag while the injured Eevee was wrapped up in two blankets right by Sam. The whole night was peaceful, even the wild Pokemon took a break from their normal nocturnal noise.
The next morning, Sam and her Teddiursa awoke and immediately gathered everything together. Then, Sam set the Eevee in her bike basket and slipped Teddy back in her backpack. Then, she got back on her bike and finally reached the end of Route 13 in Astra City.
