Near the banks of the River

[Jade the Necromancer]

Marisa was traveling down the side of the river with her trusty partner Blossom. She looked out towards the river and smiled. "I think Shock would like to see this," she said, as she released the pachirisu from his pokeball. "Pachi!" he said, smiling. Marisa decided to take a small rest. She took out her fishing rod and decided to try her luck at fishing in the river. She cast her line in. Shock watched the bobber bob up and down with the current.

[Et Cetera]

From the murky depths, a Barboach emerged, revealing it's slimy skin for all to see. And, without any prior warning, it grabbed the bait on the hook and quickly dived down to pull it away from Marisa. Realizing that it'd been hooked, it continued to attempt it's futile swimming.

[Jade the Necromancer]

"Ahh!" Marisa said. She had been surprised by the sudden tug on her line. She quickly began reeling it in. Shock wated with great curiosity, but Blossom didn't care much for it.

[Et Cetera]

As it was reeled up, the Barboach revealed itself again. "Boooaach!" It cried, eventually giving in and being hauled up onto the shore. "Barboach, Boach." It flopped around wildly, angry that'd it taken the bait.

"Oh, cool! A Barboach!" Marisa said, smiling. "You ready to go Blossom?" Blossom stood up, ready to fight. Shock sat contently and watched. "Blossom, use Razor Leaf!" Marisa said, and Blossom shot several sharp leaves at the Barboach. "Chikori!"

[Et Cetera]

The fish-like Pokémon took the Razor Leaf attack, and it retaliated with a Water Gun. "Boach, Barboach, Bar!" It flopped about madly, trying to get itself back in the water.

Barboach: 91%

Blossom: 98%

[Jade the Necromancer]

"Quick! Get another Razor Leaf in before it gets back into the water!" Marisa said. "Chikorita!" Blossom said, firing off another round of sharp leaves towards Barboach.

[Et Cetera]

Barboach, unlike before, dodged all of the spinning leaves that were sent it's way. And, out of pure spite and fear, it used another Water Gun, which did very little damage to the Grass-type. "Barboach, Bar!"

Barboach: 91%

Blossom: 95%

"Try a Tackle attack!" Marisa said, as she watched Blossom dart fowards, aiming for the Barboach.

[Et Cetera]

After being Tackled, Barboach countered with a Mud Bomb, dealing quite a deal of damage to Blossom. "Barboach, Boach!" It flopped, nearing the weeds at the Sustrite's edge. "Barboach!"

Barboach: 85%

Blossom: 88% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

"Chiko!" Blossom said, rubbing the dirt out of her eyes with the leaf on her head. She finished, and glanced back at the Barboach, furious. She used a razor Leaf of her own accord, before Marisa had time to say anything. She made the leaves extra sharp this time, and tried aiming carefully.

[Et Cetera]

The fish-like Pokémon took the Razor Leaf, but not while sitting down. It retaliated with a Mud Slap; lowering the Grass-type's accuracy even further. "Boach!" It eventually made it's way into the reeds, but not yet to safety...

Barboach: 76%

Blossom: 84% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

Blossom tried to ge the mud out of her eyes, but al the while firing off several more Razor Leaf attacks towards the general direction of the Barboach. Marisa just watched, amazed her pokemon was doing so well on her own.

[Et Cetera]

Again, the attack hit the Water-type, and it used another Mud Slap on Blossom.

Barboach: 69%

Blossom: 79% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

"Come on Blossom, keep going!" Marisa said, and the Chikorita heard. "Chikorita!" she cried, with extra determination. She fired towards what looked like the Barboach, with her hampered vision.

[Et Cetera]

Although Blossom's accuracy was lowered a considerable amount, the Razor Leaf attack went through. However, it wasn't because of pure luck, but more of it's own carelessness. It'd positioned itself in a corner---thick reeds to one side, and an angry Chikorita to the other. Realizing there wasn't much else that it could do, it used another Mud Bomb, hitting Blossom right on the face.

Barboach: 60%

Blossom: 70% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

Blossom still wiped at the dirt with the leaf on her head, trying to get it out of her eyes. "You can do it Blossom!" Marisa cheered from the side, "Try anther Razor Leaf!" Hearing her trainer's encouraging words, Blossom fired another series of leaves in the direction of the Barboach.

[Et Cetera]

Barboach, again, was hit with the array of twirling leaves, but even that didn't stop it. It flopped over onto it's side to fire off another Mud Bomb. "Boach, Bar. Barboach! Boach!" It began making it's way out of the corner and towards an open bank.

Barboach: 51%

Blossom: 62% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

Even through her hampered vision, Blossom could see the barboach making its way towards the banks. "Chikorita! Chiko!" she shouted, and sent more leaves spiraling towards it.

[Et Cetera]

The Barboach was hit, again, by the Razor Leaf attack, but still persisted. "Boach, Bar!" It flopped up just right as to send another Mud Bomb and a Mud Slap Blossom's way. "Boach!"

Barboach: 36%

Blossom: 50% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

"Keep trying! You're doing great!" Marisa called from the sideline, as Blossom shot more leaves towards the Barboach. "Chiko!"

[Et Cetera]

Barboach took the attack again, and this time, used a Water Gun and Mud Bomb combination. "Booooach, Bar!" It flopped again, trying to get to the water. It was so close, yet so far away...

Barboach: 24%

Blossom: 41% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

Blossom thought she'd try a combination attack as well. She dashed forward with a tackle, and the fired off a Razor Leaf at close distance.

Along with being super effective it was a critical hit. "Boooach." Barboach groaned and flopped, beginning to give up, the exhausted wild Pokemon used a desperate Water Gun attack and missed.

Barboach: 10% -Catchable

Blossom: 41% -Accuracy

[Jade the Necromancer]

Marisa was thinking about catching the Barboach, but she decided against it. "Blossom, another Razor Leaf!" she said, and Blossom fired of several more sharp leaves at the Barboach. "Chikorita!"

Barboach was too weak, and his dodge was more of a roll. After the attack found its mark, the water/ground Pokemon promptly fainted.

The sun was beginning to set, so Marisa figured she'd spent the night near the river. Blossom, exhausted from the battle, laid down on the ground. Marisa let Shock out of his pokeball as she began to unroll her sleeping bag. "Pachi!" he said, smiling. he dashed around the little campsite, as Marisa promptly got into her sleeping bag. Blossom and Shock wormed their way in as well, and soon they drifted off to sleep.

The Next day...


Marisa woke up, and got out of the sleeping bag without waking Shock or Blossom. She packed up the rest of the camp, then waited. After a bit, the two woke up. "Good morning," Marisa said, as the clambered out of the sleeping bag. She quickly rolled it up and packed it away as well. "Pachiri!" Shock said, climbing up onto Marisa's shoulder. She smiled at him, as Blossom looked at him enviously. The trio then set out for the forest ahead.
