It just always seemed to happen to her.. didn't it? It felt virtually impossible to sleep with the jittery feeling in her stomach, eyes wide and peering at the low ceiling, the white ceiling-fan shaking weakly as it's blades spun, trying effortlessly to cool her down, her blankets in a tangled mess, body sprawled on the sheets in the darkness, blinds closed, refusing to let the sun in. The constant beeping from the pidgey alarm clock had become but a small noise in the distance to her, mind wandering off to what was to come. She felt as though she would vomit from excitment, and as soon as she heard her mother coming down the hall, the girl slammed her hand down on the clock and rolled out of bed, tangled up in the blankets, trying to hide from the wrath of her cofee-less mother.
But the door was kicked open, the older woman stomping over, tearing the blankets off of her daughter. "Katie Lyn Rhine, you get your ass up and get dressed this instant!" But her daughter only grumbled in response as the lady turned on the light and opened up the blinds, Katie wincing from the sunlight that fluttered in, dust particles dancing in it's warm beams. She staggered to her feet, stumbling over to a mirror and turning on her straightener, now brushing down her hair and ignoring the tickling feeling of freshly cut ends of hair scratching at her skin. After she finished applying her 'morning beauties', she stuffed it all in a small black back-pack and raced out of her room, snatching up an apple as she rushed out of the house, her mother calling a futile goodbye after her. Katie raced down the dirt path, running as fast as humanly possible, taking small nibbles out of the apply before chucking the core into some tall grass, allowing some lucky zigzagoon to gnaw on it. She slipped some tic-tacs into her mouth, followed by a piece of gum to make up for her lack of brushing her teeth that morning, now hurrying towards the lab in the distance.
Katie stumbled up to it, leg muscles aching, the girl panting from her trek over. She took a quick moment to breathe, brushed herself down, swallowed the gum and then knocked on the lab door. Nervousness swelled in her body once more, praying that the meeting would go right. She was itching to get a furry creature to call her own, one that would make up for the mightyena they had back at home that she wouldn't see anymore. Full lips turned into the slightest of pouts as doubts popped up in her mind like weeds, though she did her best to shrug them off as she awaited someone to answer.
